Harzer, a founder of the botanical society Isis, was an excellent artist who painted and lithographed the illustrations himself. With extensive commentaries on the different species and their synonyms, on dangers, edibility and preparation. Good copy of this rare work. It has been published in 16 parts from 1842 to 1845. In this copy pages 121-136 from the last part are in slightly smaller format. The finely coloured plates here and there with very slight spotting, plates 75 with offsetting on previous leaf, the last black-and-white plate with traces of humidity in margins. Bound in contemporary half-leather with gilt title on spine. Folio 28,5 cm
