Sterbeeck (1630-1693) was a Flemish priest and botanist. The beautiful figures are partly taken from earlier illustrated herbals. The most are drawn after the Clusius Codex, which came in Sterbeeck's possession in 1772. An very good copy with a fine provenience: Exlibris of Georges Vicaire, the author of the important Bibliographie gastronomique (1890), depicting a cook reading books in front of his fireplace, followed by the Exlibris of the French cookery-book-collectors Jacques and Helène Bon. Paper only slightly browned. With the very nice frontispiece showing a fungi-market in Antwerpen and the portrait of the author. Old full leather binding with gilt lettering and decoration on spine (rubbed). 20,2 x 15,7 cm
