 | 106 FONTANA, Felice: Osservazioni sopra la ruggine del grano. Lucca: Nella Stamperia di Jacopo Giusti 1767 p (1-2), 3-114: 1 folded col. printed plate Volbracht 615; Pritzel 2956; Pfister 42; Lloyd 452; Ainsworth p 149-151. - Very rare and important early work on wheat rust, marking the beginning of "a new era in the understanding of rusts" (Ainsworth, p. 149). The beautiful plate depicts the urediniospores and teliospores of Puccinia graminis. Old signature of Jacques H. J. van de Laar on title, the folded plate a bit creased in middle. Bound in nice later hard boards. 20,5 cm
