Joannes Antonius Scopoli (1723-1788) was an Austrian-Italien physician, chemist and botanist with a wide range of activities from mineralogy and metallurgy to botany. His Flora Carniolica on the plants and fungi of Carnolia (the historical region of Krain, today in Slovenia) is called by Dörfelt & Heklau a work "of comprehensive importance, particularly important for fungal systematics". The first edition came out in 1760, with validly published genera, but no binary names for species. They were introduced in this enlarged edition. Mycobank lists more than 200 legitim taxon names by Scopoli. Small old ex-libris on inner covers. Nice copy in slightly worn old half-leather with gilt label on spine (one label covered by an handwritten title). 20 x 12,5 cm
