Badham (1806-1857), an English naturalist who spent some years in Paris and Rome, deplores that „England is the only country in Europe where this important and savoury food is, from ignorance or prejudice, left to perish ungathered.“ The fine plates of this edition are by the famous Anna Maria Hussey, author of "Illustrations of british mycology" (1847-1855). A very good copy in original cloth with nicely decorated cover with a gilt group of fungi. Top and bottom of spine slightly worn. 26,5 cm
